David and Goliath

David and the GIANT
Mostly everyone has heard this story. Not just those people who've read the Bible thoroughly. You may have read this as a child.

This is the start.

A little shepherd boy fights this giant - this Giant is SERIOUSLY all armed. The Bible uses quite a few verses on just his soldier outfit. So David, some little boy, 17  by just throwing a stone in his forehead  kills an experienced all-armed giant. And he won on the FIRST shot. So let's start -

David Kills Goliath

17:1¹ The Philistines gathered their troops² for battle. They assembled at Socoh in Judah. They camped in Ephes Dammim, between Socoh and Azekah. 

So the enemy team gathers up the soldiers for a war. They got all ready at this place called Socoh which is in Judah. They camped in another place called Ephes Dammim , and they say that this is in between Socoh and another place called Azekah.

That's a lot of information.

17:2 Saul and the Israelite army³ assembled and camped in the valley of Elah, where they arranged their battle lines to fight against⁴ the Philistines.

Saul, by the way is king at this point. So Saul and the Israelite's army is fighting against the Philistines. This is the plan of the good team. The Israelites army plan is here. They both got ready and camped between two mountains, that place is called Elah. And there, they also arranged the battle to fight against the Philistines. 

17:3 The Philistines were standing on one hill, and the Israelites⁵ on another hill, with the valley between them. 

Now, the Philistines get on one hill, the Israelites on the other, with Elah, the valley in between.

 17:4 Then a champion⁶ came out from the camp of the Philistines. His name was Goliath; he was from Gath. He was close to seven feet tall.

So, look. The enemies have this big champion. The guys name is Goliath, and he's from Gath. And, he's almost seven feet tall!

Nowdays, people are aroung 5 foot 4 to 6 foot 3 or 4. He is about two feet taller that most of us!

17:5 He had a bronze helmet on his head and was wearing scale body armor. The weight of his bronze body armor was five thousand shekels. 

This guy's got a bronze helmet, an armor and it's equal to 5000 shekels which is roughly (pretty rough) 250000 ounces.

17:7 The shaft¹⁰ of his spear was like a weaver’s beam, and the iron point of his spear weighed six hundred shekels.¹¹ His shield bearer was walking before him.

His spear is BIG and the point sure weighed a lot. The guy who holds his shield was walking in front of him.

Here is a sample we're working on.

In the beginning God made the sky and the earth.
The earth didn't have any shape at all. It was all empty. Darkness was over the top of the ocean. At that time, everything was covered with total water. God's spirit was moving along the water. 

God said,"Let there be light!" 

And there was light!

He put light and darkness in 2 different parts. God called the light "day" and the darkness "night". 

                How to become a Christian

Believe that Jesus is your Savior, that He died for your sins and that he rose from the dead.

Repent of your sins
Ask the Lord Jesus to come into your heart
Ask him to forgive you of your sins
And be washed in the blood of Jesus
Receive him into your heart as Lord and Savior
read and obey his word
pray to him daily
love the Lord with all of your heart
love others as He commanded
pray to be filled with the Holy spirit
be a witness for it

And you get to go to the best place in the world ever! It's called Heaven. NO PROBLEMS! NOTHING BAD! NOTHING SAD!         EVERYTHING GREAT! ALL PERFECT!

...and have a relationship with the best friend ever, Jesus.

Stars

I  will  tell you about a poem I wrote before. 

In the Bible we see that God made the stars.

¹⁶ God made two great lights. He made the larger light to rule over the day. He made the smaller light to rule over the night. He also made the stars.

¹⁷ God put the lights in the huge space of the sky to give light on the earth. ¹⁸ He put them there to rule over the day and the night. He put them there to separate light from darkness.

At the birth of Jesus a star appeared in the sky.

2 Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea. This happened while Herod was king of Judea.

After Jesus’ birth, Wise Men from the east came to Jerusalem. ² They asked, “Where is the child who has been born to be king of the Jews? When we were in the east, we saw his star. Now we have come to worship him.”

³ When King Herod heard about it, he was very upset. Everyone in Jerusalem was troubled too. ⁴ So Herod called together all the chief priests of the people. He also called the teachers of the law. He asked them where the Christ was going to be born.

⁵ “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied. “This is what the prophet has written. He said,

⁶ “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
    are certainly not the least important among the towns of Judah.
A ruler will come out of you.
    He will be the shepherd of my people Israel.’” (Micah 5:2)

⁷ Then Herod called for the Wise Men secretly. He found out from them exactly when the star had appeared. ⁸ He sent them to Bethlehem. He said, “Go! Make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, bring me a report. Then I can go and worship him too.”

⁹ After the Wise Men had listened to the king, they went on their way. The star they had seen when they were in the east went ahead of them. It finally stopped over the place where the child was.¹⁰ When they saw the star, they were filled with joy.

¹¹ The Wise Men went to the house. There they saw the child with his mother Mary. They bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures. They gave him gold, incense and myrrh.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

We should shine as stars.
Jesus said we are the light of the world.

Matthew 5:14

Ye are the light of the world.

Apostle Paul Wrote in Philippians that we should shine as lights in the world.

Philippians 2:15

¹⁵ Then you will be pure and without blame. You will be children of God without fault in a sinful and evil world. Among the people of the world you shine like stars in the heavens.

Daniel 12:3

³ Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the sky. Those who lead many others to do what is right will be like the stars for ever and ever.

                       THERE IS A STAR ON MY WALL
                                                      
                         There is a star on my wall
                                   will it fall?

                         There is a star on my chair
                                   is that one fair?

                         There is a star on my floor
                 it looks like a starfish on the seashore

                         There is a star in my room
                                   it has a broom

                         There is a star on my bed
                                   it almost looks red

                         There is a star on my ceiling
                                   that one has feelings

                         There is a star on  my blinds
                 it blends in, so it's hard to find

                      There are so many stars in my house
                                   (including a mouse)

                         But it is so sad
                 that they are not good they are bad

                        And oh, there goes on out the door  
                          then there goes three

                        Hey how, there goes two more
                          they are all out the door

                        They were a perfect team,
                  together they sure have been

The Beginning... Light

The Beginning. 

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. ² The earth didn't have any shape.
 And it was empty. Darkness was over the surface of the ocean.
I wonder what it would be like to

liv be in a dark world.

 At that time, the ocean covered the earth. The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 

E        Will it be dark anymore?????           NO! 

Go           God will make LIGHT!

³ God said, “Let there be light.”

     

 And there was light. ⁴ God saw that the light was good. He separated the light from the darkness. ⁵ God called the light “day.” He called the darkness “night.” There was evening, and there was morning. It was day one.

      GOD IS ALL POWERFUL!!!!!

     GOD made light! He made day and night! HE made the world! Every boy and girl! He made light and the world and everything in it! Bit by bit! He spoke the word! Out came the world!
