Now, you've got to know what a poem is.
For example: A fox put on socks
and it got chicken pox.
The Bible has 150 poems too. For now, I'll just explore with you the 23rd Psalm. Psalm's are the name for the Bible's poem. Well, every poem has got to have a guy who made it. Psalm 23 was written by a king called David. He was the king of Israel. Before he became a king, he was a shepherd taking care of his fathers sheep. Here's the first part:
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalms 23:1 (KJV)
When you hear the term shepherd, you'd think of a guy who takes care of sheep. But here, David illustrates an awesome picture. God is like our shepherd. He takes care of us. We are the sheep in this picture. And, every sheep gets lost. That's like when we didn't know Jesus. And God finds us and takes care of us. That's when we trust in him.The next part states,"I shall not want". That means we have EVERYTHING we need! God provides for us everything we need. In my song, Just give me Jesus, I say on the second line:Just give me Jesus! that all I want. he is my shepherd. I am the sheep.
(Maketh and Leadeth can be shortened to make and lead.)
So God gives you nice green grass to chew on. when we're thirsty, God brings us to fresh water. Now, David writes. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Psalms 23:3 (KJV)
When we are tired, God renews our strength. He gives us more when we become tired. Our Shepherd, the Lord brings us through the right paths - Heaven. David continues.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psalms 23:4 (KJV)
In troubles, and hard times I have NO NEED TO FEAR. God is with me. God is in charge of what is frighting or troubling. Being a shepherd, David writes that the God's rod and staff comfort me. The rod is used for disciplining and the staff is used for guiding.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Psalms 23:5 (KJV)

Next part,
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psalms 23:2 (KJV)(Maketh and Leadeth can be shortened to make and lead.)
